Former Fire Chief Of Hudson Valley Department Dies: Had 'Legacy Of Service'

A Hudson Valley community is mourning the loss of a former fire chief who spent nearly his entire life serving the public.

Edward J. Scott, the former chief of the Mahopac Fire Department, has died.

The Mahopac Fire Department in Putnam County announced the death of its former chief, Edward J. Scott, on Sunday, Oct. 8. 

In addition to serving as the former chief, Scott had also served as the past President and Chairman of the Mahopac Board of Fire Commissioners. He also worked as a 911 dispatcher for Putnam County. 

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office posted a memorial for Scott on social media.

"We remember and honor his remarkable lifetime dedicated to public service," the Sheriff's Office said, adding, "May his legacy of service continue to inspire others. Rest in peace, Ed." 

Service details for Scott have not yet been announced.
